Crochet Thread Size 3: 2 balls 65 Warm Teal.

Crochet Hook: 3.5mm (US E-4)
Straight pins and foam surface for blocking (optional).

Size:
Doily measures approximately 20” in diameter.

Gauge/Tension:
GAUGE: Rounds 1-4 = 5½ from point to point. 

CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the specified gauge.

SPECIAL STITCH

Cross St: Yo 3 times, pull up loop in same dc as last leg of
previous cross st, [yo and pull through 2 loops] twice; yo,
skip next 2 dc, pull up loop in next dc; [yo and pull through
2 loops] 4 times; ch 2, dc in center of previous st (another
cross st made).

DOILY
Ch 8; join with a slip st to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 23 dc in ring; join with a slip
st in third ch of beginning ch-3 – 24 dc.
Round 2: Ch 4, * dc in next dc, ch 1, repeat from * around;
join with a slip st in third ch of beginning ch-4 – 24 dc and
ch-1 space.
Round 3: Ch 3, * 2 dc in next ch-1 space, dc in next dc,
repeat from * around, ending last repeat with 2 dc in last
space; join with a slip st in third ch of beginning ch-3 – 72 dc.
Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, * skip 2 dc, (dc,
ch-1, [tr, ch 1] 3 times, dc – shell made) in next dc; skip 2
dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st in
first sc – 12 shells.
Round 5: Slip st to center ch-1 space of first shell, ch 1,
sc in same space, * ch 7, sc in center ch-1 space of next
shell, repeat from * around; join with a slip st in first sc – 12
ch-7 loops.
Round 6: Ch 3, [9 dc in next loop, dc in next sc] 12 times;
join with slip st in third ch of beginning ch-3 – 120 dc.
Round 7: Ch 4, * skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, repeat
from * around; join with slip st in third ch of beginning ch-4
– 60 ch-1 space.
Round 8: Repeat Round 3 – 180 dc.
Round 9: Ch 8, yo, pull up a loop in sixth ch from hook, yo,
skip 2 dc, pull up a loop in next dc, [yo and pull through 2
loops] 4 times (begin cross st made), [Cross St] around; join
with a slip st in sixth ch of beginning ch-8 – 60 Cross Sts.
Round 10: Ch 3, * 2 dc in next ch-2 space, dc in first leg
of next Cross St, repeat from * around; join with a slip st in
third ch of beginning ch-3 – 180 dc.
Round 11: Repeat Round 4 – 30 shells.
Round 12: Repeat Round 5 – 30 ch-7 loops.
Round 13: Ch 3, * 7 dc in next loop, dc in next sc, repeat
from * around; join with a slip st in third ch of beginning
ch-3 – 240 dc.
Round 14: Repeat Round 7 – 120 ch-1 space.
Round 15: Repeat Round 3 – 360 dc.
Round 16: Repeat Round 4 – 60 shells; fasten off.

FINISHING
To block (optional), stretch and pin doily into circle. Spray
with water until damp; let dry thoroughly. If not blocking,
press gently on WS using cotton setting with steam.
