To make this flower, start with a piece of fabric that’s about 4″ wide by 24″ long. Those measurements are very flexible and can be adjusted to what you have on hand. My flower turned out to be about 4″ across.
With right sides together, stitch the long side with a 1/4″ seam. Turn. Press one edge, with the seam about 1/2″ away, pressing it flat as well. Don’t press the other edge.
Turn one end of the tube to the inside. Slide the other end into it and stitch across.
Hand stitch a long, running stitch about 1/8″ from the edge you pressed, knotting the starting end and beginning and ending at the stitched ends. Pull the thread to gather tightly. Knot the end.
I cut a simple set of leaves from felt. Place those behind the flower, with a button over the center hole. Line another button up on the front and stitch through both buttons, through the center of the flower. Pull the “petals” apart to fluff it up.
At the point you could add a wire stem by wrapping it around the back button, glue a pin to the back, add a piece of ribbon for hanging, attach it to a barrette, pin it to a bag or just wrap a piece of green wire around the button for hanging, like I did.
