Crochet Snow Flake

Picture of Free Snowflake Pattern

Size: 4" point to point.
Materials:
Crochet Cotton Thread (size 10) - 35 yds, Stiffening Glue, Stainless Steel (non-rust) Pins, Cardboard, Small Plastic Bags.
Crochet Hook: Steel Hook #9 or size needed to obtain gauge.

Directions
Rnd 1 (right side): Ch 9, sl st in first ch to form a ring, ch 1, 18 sc in ring; join with sl st to first sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 8, ch 1 (center ch), (ch 5, sl st in center ch)
3 times, ch 8, skip next 2 sc of Rnd 1, * sc in next sc, ch 8, ch 1 (center ch), (ch 5, sl st in center ch) 3 times, ch 8, skip next 2 sc of Rnd 1, rep from * 4 times more; join with
sl st to first sc. (18 ch-5 sps)
Rnd 3: Sl st in next 8 chs, * (2 sc, ch 3,
2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc) in next ch-5 sp,
sl st in next sl st, rep from * twice more,
ch 10, sl st in center ch of next point, rep from first * 5 times more. Finish off and weave in ends.

Stiffening
Note:This method is permanent and will not wash out.
1. Place small amount of stiffener in plastic bag with Snowflake. Work stiffener into piece. Let soak.
2. Place plastic on cardboard.
3. Remove pieces from stiffener. Blot with a paper towel to remove excess from holes.
5.  Spread points. With right side facing, pin Snowflake to plastic on cardboard shaping as seen in photo. Let dry completely.
6. Use a toothbrush to remove dried stiffener from finished Snowflakes.
